Executive Coaching

At advanced stages of a professional career, performance challenges are rarely about intelligence, work ethic, or expertise. They are more often about decision-making under pressure, leadership dynamics, and the cumulative weight of responsibility.

I provide executive coaching for high performing professionals who want a confidential, structured space to think clearly, lead effectively, and sustain performance over time.

Common Reasons Leaders Seek Coaching

Executive coaching is often sought at moments where the cost of unexamined patterns becomes meaningful.

Common themes include:
  • Difficulty maintaining clarity under sustained pressure
  • Leadership blind spots affecting influence or team dynamics
  • Interpersonal strain with partners, boards, or senior colleagues
  • Burnout that shows up as reduced effectiveness rather than disengagement
  • Role transitions requiring a different leadership stance
  • A lack of confidential space to think honestly and strategically

The goal of this work is not self-exploration for its own sake, but better decisions, steadier leadership, and sustainable performance.

How Executive Coaching Works

Executive coaching is structured, time-limited, and focused on application.

Engagements typically include:
  • Regular virtual or in-person one-on-one sessions (50-60 minutes)
  • Clearly defined goals tied to leadership effectiveness and role demands
  • A practical framework for decision-making and self-regulation under pressure
  • Ongoing refinement based on real-world situations as they arise

The work is collaborative, direct, and oriented toward change that matters in daily leadership practice.

Use of Executive Assessments

When appropriate, executive coaching may include validated leadership and personality assessments, such as:

  • NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI)
  • EQ-i 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment

Assessments are not used for diagnosis or treatment. Within an executive coaching framework, their purpose is to provide objective data that helps clarify how a leader tends to think, decide, relate, and respond under pressure.

Why Assessments Are Used

Used thoughtfully, assessments can:

  • Identify leadership patterns that are effective and those that may limit flexibility
  • Clarify stress responses and decision-making tendencies
  • Provide a shared, neutral language for discussing interpersonal impact
  • Accelerate the coaching process by reducing guesswork

How Assessments Are Integrated

When included, assessment results are:

  • Reviewed collaboratively during coaching sessions
  • Interpreted in the context of your role, environment, and responsibilities
  • Translated into concrete leadership strategies and behavioral adjustments
  • Used as one component of a broader, goal-oriented coaching process

Not all coaching engagements require formal assessments. Their use is determined by professional judgment and whether they meaningfully support the goals of the work.

Why Work With Me

Many executive coaches come from business or consulting backgrounds. My work is grounded in advanced training in human behavior, decision-making, and emotional intelligence, applied specifically to leadership contexts.

I also bring several years of experience providing executive coaching to military commanders and executive officers, navigating high-stakes environments where leadership decisions carry significant consequences.

Clients value this approach because:

  • I understand how high-functioning professionals operate under pressure
  • I can identify patterns affecting leadership effectiveness efficiently
  • I am comfortable working with power, conflict, and complexity
  • I offer direct, thoughtful feedback without judgment or performance theatrics
Scope and Professional Boundaries

Executive coaching is distinct from psychotherapy.

  • No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
  • No insurance billing
  • Clear professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Focus on present and future leadership performance insurance billing

When a situation would be better addressed through psychotherapy or another service, I will recommend that directly.

Getting Started

The first step is an initial meeting to assess fit and clarify goals. Because I work with a limited number of executive coaching clients, not all inquiries or initial meetings result in an ongoing engagement. This selectivity protects the quality and depth of the work for all involved.

If we decide to move forward, coaching is structured as a six-month professional engagement.

Professional Fees
